INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

"Life requires movement."

ARISTOTLE

I often imagine we’ve all been placed on a raft that’s been sent down the river of life.

The raft can run into treacherous waters, capsize, or even start to sink. We struggle to find ways to continue down the river, a problem we’ll all inevitably face.

Counseling offers you a chance to reflect, learn tools, and find the strength to move down the river with greater confidence and stability to meet the obstacles ahead.

If you’re tired of the same emotions, thoughts, and behaviors holding you back from a thriving life, then individual counseling can be a responsible and liberating choice to empower you to a new way of living.

Here's what you can expect when working with me.

1

A safe and supportive environment.

2

Encouragement and understanding.

3

Open communication to allow for feedback, self-direction, and comfort.

4

Appropriate resources such as books, worksheets, and podcasts that reflect your interests and goals.

5

A variety of techniques and theory-informed interventions to create a holistic, individual-centered approach that fits your unique therapeutic journey.

My Techniques

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)

A talk therapy that helps individuals process trauma and emotional challenges by accessing their innate resilience, focusing on emotional expression, and fostering a strong therapist-client relationship to encourage healing.

Polyvagal Theory

A theory that explains how the autonomic nervous system, particularly the vagus nerve, influences our emotional regulation, behavior, and ability to feel safe and connected.

Interpersonal Neurobiology

Integrates neuroscience, psychology, and biology to understand how life experiences affect brain development, highlighting the brain's capacity to grow and heal through interpersonal connections and therapeutic interventions.

Mindfulness

Developing an awareness of internal states and surroundings, helping people avoid destructive habits by learning to observe their thoughts and emotions in the present moment without judgment or automatic reactions.

Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

An approach that teaches individuals to accept their emotions and experiences instead of avoiding them, and to commit to behavioral changes that align with their values, promoting psychological flexibility and emotional well-being.

Internal Family Systems

A therapy that focuses on identifying and healing a person's various sub-personalities or "parts," which often conflict with one another, to restore harmony and access the core Self, a state of confidence, calm, and compassion.

Solution-Focused Therapy

A short-term, goal-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on constructing solutions to problems by exploring clients' strengths and past successes, rather than delving deeply into the problems themselves.

Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT)

A short-term, attachment-based approach that helps individuals restore emotional bonds by addressing underlying insecurities and negative interaction patterns, enabling reconnection and stronger, more supportive relationships.

Psychodynamic Therapy

A type of therapy that helps individuals gain insight into unconscious influences and unresolved past experiences to improve emotional well-being and address current behavioral issues.

Adlerian Therapy

Helps individuals overcome feelings of inferiority by understanding their early experiences and fostering personal growth, social responsibility, and a sense of belonging through positive, community-focused behavior.

Trauma-Informed Approach

Focuses on understanding the effects of trauma, creating a safe, supportive environment, and promoting healing through principles of safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment.

"Working with Adam has been truly pivotal to my growth and healing. I always felt I had a safe and trusting space to cry, process, and sit in the unknown. He helped me make insightful connections while keeping sessions light and genuine. I felt better in the world with his support, and cannot express how appreciative I am for our time together."
